Busy...Busy

Suzette, me, Cam, Mary, Katherine

It's been a busy couple of weeks and blogging again took the back seat. Last weekend I traveled to North Carolina for inspired.09 and was truly inspired. I will admit that I was a little skeptical about a class or two but in the end I really enjoyed every one of them, trying things I would never have tried had I not gone. I took very few photos this year and except for uploading them on my computer and scanning through them for a brief second to see what I captured, I haven't done much with them. We were divided into groups that traveled from 3-hour class to 3-hour class and in our group we all sort of seemed to stick in our little packs of artists and the five of us (shown above) never strayed. It was so nice to reconnect with friends made from last year and making new ones this year. We had a blast and we laughed so much it was probably illegal! Just yesterday I finally moved all my supplies from the living room to my studio. Now to put them in their place. Cam and Suzette - thanks for putting up with me for three days! I had a wonderful time and look forward to seeing you guys next year!

I came home on Mother's Day to beautiful flowers from my sweet hubby and kiddos and my pumpkin head made me a scrumptious cake. This was her first attempt at making a cake by herself and I'd say she aced it! It was so great to see my family. I missed them so much. My biggest sadness for the day was knowing Eric had to go back to work 30 minutes after we returned from the airport. But again, this is only temporary and we are very grateful for the job.

Since I last posted I have been busy with my every day life. I spent a Saturday with my friend Donna over in Ft. Worth the weekend before inspired. She took me to the cattle barn so we could spend some time digging for treasures and then we headed to a cemetery where she enjoys photographing the beautiful angels.
We had lunch at a great little Italian restaurant and also hit the super*cool Michaels over by her place. We made some awesomely simple little hearts that totally blew my mind after finding out just how simple and quick they came together. I got to browse her wonderfully art-filled home and look at all the eye candy before I headed home. Around 3 p.m. that day a storm descended upon us, as we were taking our photographic venture, and the rain really never let up for the rest of the day/evening. It was crazy just how much rain we did end up getting but the yards and foliage are all the better for it. Thank you, Donna, for spending part of your weekend with me. I really had a wonderful time!

Work has gotten better and the lock-down of files has been lifted. I hope this is a sign that things are getting better. It has been a really long 5 months having to sit around hoping that work magically appears and I was always able to get what I needed, or what I felt I needed to feel like I was doing my part. Sitting at the computer, some times ALL. DAY. LONG., was really draining and actually quite frustrating. I have to put a limit on myself on how many words I type a day otherwise I would sit and work until I couldn't work anymore so I try to limit myself to 10-12,000 words a day with a total of at least 100,000 words every two weeks.

I follow this super funny girl named Kal via her blog. She taught at inspired.08 and when I found out she had a blog I checked it out when I returned home last year. I have been diligently following her every day since. She recently blogged about a workout DVD called the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. See, she had her second baby in February and was ready to get back into shape. This resonated with me since I have been trying to figure out what to add to my routine to get myself back into the shape I once was in. I'm not looking to loose any weight, just really yearning for the toning. I have been running and unfortunately my awesome little Nike +iPod sensor finally took its last breath and last night when I went out for my run my trusty little running pal was gone. Dead as a doornail. It wouldn't connect no matter how hard I tried and it was then I had to accept its untimely demise. Time for a new sensor. Anyway, I have been doing The Firm and was feeling like I needed a little something more so I took the plunge and sought out the 30 Day Shred Kal had spoken so highly of. I found it at Wal-Mart online using Site-to-Store for less than $10 and all I can say is boo-yah! That 20-minute workout had me panting like a dog in the middle of a hot summer day. And I thought I was in shape, or relatively decent shape. HA! Joke was obviously on me! I'm on day 5 today (sshhhh....don't tell anyone that I skipped yesterday's workout - remember, I did run) and as much as it kills me it's wonderful because I am so pumped to see how far I can push myself each day. (Weird thing is the fact that I have never felt like I do after doing The Firm when comparing how I feel after doing the Shred. That tells me it is working well.) And yesterday's hiatus was necessary because I had not been able to straighten my arms out since the day I started the DVD. How very, very sad that was. And painful, too, but that's the sort of pain I love. I know, sick but it assures me I am doing something very good for my body and I have missed this sort of pain for much too long. This DVD has three levels and I am only on level 1, which is obviously supposed to be the easiest level, and with how it kicks my ass I'm sure I'll get results I am hoping for. I need to be bikini-ready by June 10th. And I am so not a one-piece suit kind of girl!

This weekend I plan to spend some time creating just for the sake of creating. I've been really inspired since I got home last weekend and I need to make sure I do not miss what is there, creatively speaking.
