I hope everyone had a wonderful turkey day. So thankful for all the blessings in my life.....too many to list. I have been spending time with the kids and laughing until my side hurts during their week off from school. Shhhh....I took time off too but don't tell the office. They seem to not have noticed my absence. *wink* Probably the biggest thing I am thankful for, aside from my and my family's health, our jobs and a roof over our head is my two kids. Not sure what I ever did to deserve those two crazy, wonderful little souls but there is not one day that goes by that I do not thank God that he entrusted me with their care.
We had a quiet Thanksgiving today. I spent the morning cooking while everyone was sleeping then went out for a 5k run. I actually impressed myself with my time - yay me! I showered and then we sat down to eat and then I cleaned up. I mean seriously, that was the extent of it. No. Big. Deal. But it was sure yummy! And boy oh boy do I miss my sister. Reminder to self: Need to spend more holidays with your sister.

This past Tuesday we took a little family trip and headed over to Grapevine to the Gaylord Texan to see Ice. I have been wanting to attend this event every year for the longest time and we finally did it. Forty-some people come here from China and sculpt the exhibit over approximately a months' time. They keep it a chilly 9 degrees which the kids and I loved! They provide a long parka for you to wear while there. There are also 20-foot ice slides to slide on your rump down which is part of the reason for the long parka. So much fun! The kids and I had to slide down the slide. And yes, I might be a grown-up but I refuse to grow up! Winter is my favorite and I wasn't letting a chance like that slide by! {No pun intended!} We slid down several times, until the crowd followed us in, and then we finished the exhibit and headed to Cracker Barrel for some home cooking. Man that sucked! Oh well, there is always next year and I think it will become a tradition just as we used to go see the train exhibit every year at the Galleria before they moved it to NorthPark Center.
I did venture out this year to Michaels. That crazy store opens up at 5 p.m. and is open until 9 p.m. I wasn't able to make it last year since I was recuperating (couldn't handle getting bumped and trampled last year) so I went this year looking for bargains but expecting not to buy much. Of course, when I expect to buy nothing or something small I end up spending more money than I had anticipated. I have been wanting an OTT light for a while now and picked up this little cutie (yes, it is pink after all) for $33 bucks. It's true, nature light and I was able to get it 50% off plus an additional 25% off. I can't wait to use it. Their Cricut cartridges were also on sale and they were swooped up in no time flat. I arrived there about 30 minutes before the store opened and there were probably 20 or so people in front of the building. (Best Buy is right next door and I giggled when I saw two tents parked outside their front door. Seriously, don't people know all that stuff is available online. Online shopping means pajamas in the warmth and coziness of your own home and not the chilly temperatures and hard concrete for hours and hours before they open. I guess I just don't understand. Besides that, there isn't a restroom nearby and that is sort of a head-scratcher for me.) After about 10 minutes in line people were starting to arrive. By the time they opened the doors there had to be 75 people there waiting to get in. The first person in line was a man and he was there to get Cricut cartridges for his wife. Now that is one devoted husband! It's so funny since I hadn't planned on going there to do anything but look I thought it a little weird when my heart was pounding and I was getting antsy as I was waiting for the doors to open, almost like I had something I had intended to buy and needed to get to it before anyone else did. I guess no matter what, you sort of fall into that mentality without even thinking about it. The nice thing though was that even though there were quite a few at Michaels it really wasn't awful shopping. It was quite tolerable. The checkout lines were a little slow waiting for the cartridges they had to obtain from the secure area but other than that it wasn't horrible.
Tomorrow morning we will probably be heading over to Wally World to check out the Miley Cyrus/Max Azria line of clothing for Taryn. Lucky me! And she somehow thinks that it won't all be sold out by 6 a.m. I think she is missing the point that their sale starts at 5 a.m. and there are t-shirts for $3. Teenage minds! But those teenagers do have learning curves and this is definitely one of them! teehee!
And for the rest of the day the only shopping I will be doing is online at House of 3 for digi goodies 50% off. That is the kind of shopping I like...no mean people, no lines, no traffic - just jammies, laptop, a comfy chair and my brand new Photoshop Elements 8! The next three days belong to me and my muse. Oh, and I will be sneaking

Hey crazy chica, I debated going to Michael's last night too, but felt bad people were working on Thanksgiving. I too will be checking out the HO3 goodies and shoppping online this year instead of venturing out in the crazy lines this year. Have a great rest of your Thanksgiving week!
